![]() We really enjoyed the premium family rooms near the new pool. Plenty of things to do and different spaces to check out. Again, if you get a great price, are new to all-inclusives, and want some sunshine and ocean, maybe you wojld enjoy this facility.A beautiful and well kept property. The check-in area shouts-we are spending as little as possible on our facility. Many all-inclusives are beautifully appointed in this respect. The landscaping is the worst we have seen in terms of extent and beauty. ![]() We had a steak that tasted as if it had been cooke in fish oil. The food for an all-inclusive is close to terrible. The front desk personnel are brusque, but other staff would be great if they could speak something other than Spanish. Free, bountiful food, warm weather, smiling faces-what's not to like? This facility has staff who try to be friendly, even though many can speak almost no English. When on a first cruise or all-inclusive, most things are terrific. For someone new to all-inclusives, a positive review is perfectly understandable. Our judgment is affected greatly by having stayed at 10 all-inclusives on 3 continents. My wife and I recently spent 6 days at this resort. Needless to say we loved our experience at New Onyx and certainly recommend it. Although we spent considerable time at the pool, this resort also sits on a beautiful beach. Our rooms were spacious and the beds were great. The resort itself was modern and very clean. The wait staff can really make or break a dining experience and Osvaldo and the staff with him always insured we had a great experience. He insured we were well taken care of and treated us like we were part of his family. We were fortunate that Osvaldo seemed to always be involved with our table. The food at most of the restaurants was good but we did have some meals that were just “ok.” The waiters at the restaurants we visited were just great. This resort is an all inclusive with all the food and drink that you could possibly want. When Zorro was not working, Moe was there to look after us and also did a superb job. He constantly looked after us and certainly made this trip exceptional. Our butler was Zorro and he was excellent. ![]() Being in preferred, we had a butler assigned to us. Our travel agent, Carol Peitz Cruises and Travel recommended we book ‘preferred’ and that was great advice. The resort was impressive and the resort staff did everything possible to insure our every need was cared for. Check in was a breeze with the staff making us feel welcome. From the moment we entered the resort, we were treated as honored guests and part of their family. We were there to celebrate our anniversary. It was my first visit to the Dominican Republic and my first stay at this resort. One could easily fall into pool or concrete. We had a nice room with private pool light outside was centrally controlled and was turned off at some pre-set time. There is virtually no place to hang things up to even try to get some drying no hooks or racks or anything. I had my pills (vitamins and some meds) and they all got gooey even in a plastic holder. The rooms are super cooled but no removal of humidity so everything is damp ALL THE TIME. If you go here, some points for you to know: the humidity is inescapable. Took 5 CALLS and angry voice on 5th call to get a response. No info on the info channel on the TV system and the staff did not seem to have a clue and none cared. Bluewater Grill became the Italian one that night). Friday night the restaurants were all mixed up with some closed and some operating as a different one (ex. Amazing lack of English speaking staff for a place that caters to US. ![]() Finally someone opens for us and says maintenance will come. Asked several folks for directions to our room and they either did not know or did not speak english. Their directions could not have been more wrong. Come back later." Finally get the key and ask where to go. "Your room is not ready." When will it be ready? "Don't know." Call someone? "Can'd to that. A couple of not-so-friendly staff such as Fredyan at check-in. ![]() Large number of staff who mostly were helpful and friendly. Easy beach access but be aware: NO lifeguards. Good food overall but not very hot and a number of folks in the group got some significant gastro troubles. We were there as part of a large group for music festival. ![]()
